Rolex Bubbleback
$3,825
Manufactured from 1933 until the mid 1950's - the term "Bubbleback" was never an official designation of these early Oyster case models however it may as well have been in the industry. The iconic bubble case back shape was due to the added space needed to house an automatic rotor - it's a bit of a novelty as this "bubble" was one of the earliest forms of problem solving in order to make automatic movements viable. That's because this timepiece houses the first ever Rolex automatic movement. The reference 2940 is one of the more common to find "Bubbleback" models - however the condition of the one we have for sale is nowhere near common. This model's elastic steel bracelet is in wonderful condition, however if the non-conforming lug attachment isn't to your liking, then a fine leather strap could bring new life as well. A wonderful piece of Rolex history and one truly worthy of collecting.
